4 Tips for Amazing Prom Pictures | CSC Photography - Information | Virginia Couples Photographer

I can't believe it's almost time for another PROM!!! And I really can't believe I just wrote that sentence in August!

I know several schools have already had proms, but Russell County is having theirs next week... and I am excited!!!

P.S. If you need prom pictures, we're doing them at the Bristol Train Station this year, and I have a few more spots left!

Since prom is literally just around the corner, I've compiled a few of my favorite tips for amazing prom pictures that will both look great on Instagram and have you swooning for years to come!

CAPTURE THE CANDIDS!

I know, I know... posed pictures are so pretty (and my favorite), but I love capturing the raw moments where you're just being you! Whether this means a few pictures fumbling with the boutonniere or a quick blooper-worthy shot, I want you to remember it!

DON'T FORGET THE DETAILS!

I love capturing the little, special details that go into the full experience! Whether that's taking a moment to photograph the bouquet & boutonniere (which I can totally help you pin), getting a quick shot of your earrings or watch, or photographing your shoes, etc. I think every detail is important... because it took time to plan.

If you're nervous about detail shots taking up too much of your portrait time, don't worry! Detail shots take a small fraction of your time! I shoot really quickly, which means you'll get a ton of images (and a large variety of images) in even a short amount of time.

TAKE INDIVIDUALS!

This is actually one of my own biggest prom picture regrets! Yes, I do have pictures of just me before the prom, but it might be one or two. I really wish I had a few more... here's why

I really hate to go here, but I wouldn't mention it if I didn't think it was that important. You may not be with your prom date forever... and you might not be on good terms later in life. Don't let your prom pictures be something you hate 5 years from now tbecause every picture has your ex in it.

Plus, this is really handy for high school sweethearts too! Even if you do end up together forever (which I hope happens), it's nice to have some pictures by yourself to look back on. With individuals, it's easier to show off that expensive dress you had or your pretty hair and makeup! I've even had guys get really into individuals and want to show off their watches or other accessories.

Bottom line... individuals are nice to have no matter what!

TAKE PICTURES WITH OTHERS!

If your parents or friends are at your session with you, grab a quick picture with them! It takes less than a minute, and it's so nice to have that memory.

See you soon,
